Grand Tour and Hand Carved example of the architectural model of The Arch of Titus. The Arch of Titus, a triumphal arch built in Rome to commemorate the victory of the Roman general, later emperor, Titus, in the Jewish War of 66-74 CE. The Arc De Triomphe on Paris was modelled on the Great Roman Arches. This model is of generous proportions. Late Nineteenth Century. Superbly carved and wonderfully detailed with a pinkish brown veining throughout and nice patination. Complete with its original cream alabaster platform rectangular base.
Condition: Good condition with nice surface patination and no losses, professionally cleaned. Few tiny, tiny plea bites on alabaster base, the green baise has been removed and new pads replaced.
